Just started a debut novel by American writer Noah Boyd. It's an FBI thriller said to be in the Lee Child (Jack Reacher) style. So far so good.
How does the reality of being a published author differ from the dream?
Funny thing is, it only really hits home when someone asks this very question. Otherwise, I don't really think about it (okay, when I go into a bookshop and see my books, THEN it hits home!) Thinking about it now...you find yourself doing talks, signings - all that, and it's fantastic. No other word for it. How the culmination of a dream should be.
What was your first published work, and what did you do to celebrate?
It was a short story called Hole in One--a crime caper. I think I must have celebrated with a drink or two - but it was so long ago, I can't remember!
