Q & A
Who most influenced your writing process, style, or technique?

I began writing when I was 12, and probably my earliest influence was Erle Stanley Gardner via his Perry Mason novels. But soon after, Raymond Chandler and Ross Macdonald became bigger factors. In my late teens I discovered William Faulkner, and I was really enamored of his style and various techniques. I learned things from these four and others, but I don't think my style today necessarily reflects any of them.

What are you reading now?

Completely MAD: A History of the Comic Book and Magazine by Maria Reidelbach

As a fellow Sniplits author, I wonder if you prefer writing short stories to other forms of writing? Always interested in the opinion of a published writer. Thanks. Tom Anselm

Hi, Tom, and thanks for the question. I don't really have a preference for one form or type - if I'm sufficiently immersed in whatever project I'm working on at any given time. If I'm really into it an enjoying the process, it doesn't matter whether it's a short story, a poem, or a non-fiction piece.
