Downloading
Sniplits stories are distributed as MP3 files in order to ensure that they will work on Mac (iPods, iPhone, computers) and PC devices.
Credit card and PayPal sales are all processed by PayPal. Once you have completed the purchase transaction you MUST click on the button to return to the Sniplits site to download your story. If you do not return to Sniplits at the time of your purchase you will not be able to download the story and will need to contact customer service. Once you click on the button to return to Sniplits, you will see a download button. Clicking that link will open your music manager software (e.g., iTunes) and begin the download.
In order to save story purchases to your personal library, you must be logged in as a Member at the time of purchase.
No, Sniplits stories will work with the same audio manager you use to manage your MP3 music files.

Why does Sniplits charge for stories?
At Sniplits, we believe authors should be paid for their work, and that their work deserves to be professionally produced, which is why we charge for stories. Sniplits pays authors an advance upon publication – which means we pay them for every story even if no one buys it.
Can I submit a story to Sniplits? How much does Sniplits pay for a story?
Yes. Sniplits welcomes the work of new as well as established authors. But read and follow the Writer’s Guidelines. We generally review stories in the order received. We’re receiving so many stories though that right now it’s taking us about 3-4 months to get to a story, so please be patient. Sniplits pays an advance of between $30 to $150 for stories we accept, and authors have the potential to earn royalties of between 30-50% based on net sales.
If I’m a Member, does that mean Sniplits will buy my story?
No. The decision whether or not to accept a manuscript and publish a story for audio production and sale on the Sniplits website, is made completely and solely by Sniplits editors. These decisions are subjective, but we do the best we can in trying to provide compelling, well-written work. Membership status plays no role in the editorial process.
Sniplits does intend to allow Members to post their own stories in the Sniplits Community, but Sniplits does not review or pay for those stories, and Members cannot use the Sniplits Community to sell stories.
Will I have to pay Sniplits to post or publish my story?
No, Sniplits is not a vanity press.
Can I download the story to more than one device?
Yes. While all of the content on the Sniplits website is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws in the United States and other countries, we distribute stories without Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology. We do so for your convenience, and because we enjoy sharing a good story as much as anyone. Once you’ve purchased and downloaded a story, it’s yours to listen to on however many gadgets you own. Sniplits also allows you to share that story, in a limited fashion, according to the Terms of Use. In a nutshell:
- You may email or otherwise share any Story that you have purchased from Sniplits, in its entirety, with up to 10 people.
- You may not upload to or otherwise share the audio file, digital file or any portion of the Story (in text or audio format) through any personal, community or business website, blog, on-line forum or use any other means to broadly distribute the Story. Sniplits defines “broadly” as distributing the story to more than 10 people. Why? Because while we love sharing a good story, we also believe authors should be paid for their work. This is important - if we find a Member is or has broadly distributed a Sniplits story, that member may have their Membership cancelled, be barred from the Sniplits website and face copyright litigation.
- You may add a link to the story’s location on the Sniplits website, to your personal website, community site, or to an email for distribution to more than 10 people. Sniplits reserves the right to ask you to remove the link if we determine that the site to which it is linked is inappropriate for Sniplits. For example, we’re not interested in seeing a link to Sniplits on any websites promoting hateful messages against any people because of their race, religious beliefs, or the like.
- You may not edit any story, or other Sniplits content.
- You may not use any Sniplits story or content for any commercial purpose.
- You may not claim any part of any Sniplits story or content as your own work.
If I post a story to the Sniplits Community, who owns it?
You would retain the rights to that story.
Can I charge other Members to download the stories I post?
No. The Sniplits Community is intended to be a place where information and ideas are shared.
In order to access the Sniplits Community (author fan pages, discussion groups, post personal stories) you must first be logged on as a Member.
How do I join a discussion group?
In order to join a discussion group you must first be a Member in good standing (complying with the Sniplits TOU) and you must be logged in.
I submitted a question to an author, but it hasn’t shown up on the site yet.
Questions and Answers on Author Fan Club pages are not real-time, unless they are part of a live author event, but our authors are very good about answering questions within a few days. Please note that if we receive multiple similar questions for an author, we may only post one as a representative question. Also, Sniplits reserves the right to not post questions that we feel are inappropriate.
Please let Sniplits know about any broken links and we’ll try to get them repaired as quickly as possible.
