Lydia Ondrusek

Lydia Ondrusek is a long-married mother of two who describes herself as engaged in writing her way out of a paper bag. When she returned to writing a few years ago, she discovered micro-fiction and delved into it instead of the non-fiction and essays she'd planned to write.

"Micro-fiction is where I get my ya-yas out," she says. "A little story can be an intensive note for a long one-or it can be complete, all in itself." A subsequent return to writing poetry followed, and the discovery that she enjoyed writing real-world fantasy as well as straight fiction. Lydia has published stories with BURST, Flash Fiction Online, Yankee Pot Roast, Flash Me, and Falling Star.

Lydia releases her inner feline at www.thelittlefluffycat.com. She enjoys reading Dick Francis, Diane Mott Davidson, ("She's my hero, she started writing after she had four kids."), "the two K's-Koontz and King," and Anne Lamott among many others.

Q & A
Q: Do you write only flash fiction, or do you write other forms? John O.

LO: I do micro-fiction as small as fifty words - some of that will be going up here at Sniplits soon - longer micro, like Sorcerer, flash in the thousand-word range, and short stories of two to five thousand words or so.
