Q & A
VJB: The odd thing is, I never considered myself a short story writer. Short stories are notoriously difficult and though I had done a few early on in my career,
the prospect of doing more intimidated me. It was just a few years ago that I was asked by a writer friend to do a short story for a very prestigious gay online zine
Blithe House Quarterly (now gone, alas), which she was then editing, and I thought, oh what the hell, and did The Emeral Mountain. But that
was so well received, that I began to write other short stories, and found that I enjoyed it and apparently had an affinity for it. I'm an impulsive, intuitive writer. Things come to me
and I write them down. That's mostly what happens with short stories. I haven't written any for a while. Will I again? Don't know. If they come to me, of course.
Thanks for your interest in my work. You can write me and check on my longer works - I'd be glad to send you one of my novels in e-format, if you'd like. And, of course, I have
several short things on Sniplits. As, let me say, do a number of very fine writers.
